Question: How much will my roof cost?
Answer:
The cost of your roof will depend largely on the materials used and the surface area of your roof.
Question: Is Malachi Consulting bonded and insured? What amount of liability insurance coverage do you have?
Answer:
Bonded is only required in cities where roofing contractors must be licensed. There is no licensing requirement for roofers in the state of Texas, although some cities do require “out of town” companies to register with the city and get a performance bond. Because we are a local company this would not apply to us. We have asked to get a $10,000 bond to work in lakeway, for example, that was no problem. We are insured up to $1 million per incident with a $2 million aggregate policy.
Question: Is Malachi consulting a Better Business Bureau member?
Answer:
We are a Better Business Bureau Member with A+ rating. Click here to view our company on the BBB website.
Question: I have been told that code now requires all re-roofs to include a metal drip edge around the perimeter of the roof, Is this included in your current quote and can you specify this?
Answer:
Yes the drip edge is included in your proposal.
Question: Can you specify the number of roof pipes, roof vents, and power attice vent covers you will be replacing?
Answer:
We are replacing ALL pvc pipes, ALL roof vents, ALL attic ventilation. Everything protruding through the roof deck will be replaced and painted to match.
Question: You state ” Inspect all Flashing at wall abutments and chimney”, does this mean you will replacing this Flashing?
Answer:
We inspect all flashing to make sure it is working properly,we only replace flashing that has been damaged and would void the labor warranty. We may need to speak further on this as there are many variables with existing flashing.
Question: Will you be able to complete the job in one day?
Answer:
Sometimes. Many jobs require more than one day to complete correctly, and we would certainly wouldn’t want to rush things. If you’re working on a timeline, tell us, we can most likely accomodate.
Question: When will you be able to schedule the job?
Answer:
Most jobs can be scheduled within 10 days of the proposal. Keep in mind, we stay very busy and the schedule can change fast.
Question: How will the shingles be delivered and raised to the roof?
Answer:
The shingles will be loaded by a boom truck onto the roof by the supplier. We will want to inspect the driveway first to be sure there are no cracks or low hanging trees ( below 14ft).
Question: Who will be the supervisor on the job?
Answer:
Three area supervisors visit job sites frequently. Our crews have worked for the owners for the past eight years and the foreman has 25 years of roofing experience. Needless to say, they don’t need much hand holding. David is our on site supervisor. his job is to make sure the job is safe and clean as well as verify materials and the context of the crews work order. he is also there to answer any questions you might have about anything you might see while on site. The third person to visit the site is our, General Manager, Rory, who occasionally stops by to check on things. You will also have project coordinator in the office communicating with you in regards to scheduling and can answer most office and billing questions. You will receive a list of all the personnel you will be able to contact during your job with any and all questions.
Question: Are you requesting a sum of money up front? If so, why is that?
Answer:
We do require a deposit of 40% which goes into an account allocated to pay suppliers only This covers most of the material cost and insures that our customers never have to worry about a supplier trying to put a lien on their property. It also makes our contract binding. Without a deposit a customer can nullify our agreement and we would have to fit the bill for materials ordered. This is a protection for both of us.
Question: Can you provide a couple more references of previous jobs.
Answer:
How about a hundred? About 90% of our business is referral generated. you can’t get that many referrals without doing a whole lot of things right. How many more references would you like?
